Pruning aims at producing maximum number of suitable shoots and is one of the chief factors responsible for the survival of the lac insects and the ultimate crop yield. Systematic trials on lac cultivation on ghont in Madhya Pradesh were carried out for the first time. Results indicate that pruning for Baisakhi crop (October/November to June/July) should be carried out in April of the same year to allow six months' time and for Katki crop (June/July to October/November) in May of the previous year to allow thirteen months' time for the development of maximum number of suitable shoots after pruning.- A New Record of Rangeeni Lac on Grevillea robusta A. The authors record 30 lac-hosts from Madhya Pradesh from their personal observations. These include 8 new hosts, 8 first records from this State (one of them being a first record from India) and 14 lac-hosts which have already been recorded from this State. The previous authors have recorded 28 lac-hosts from this State. Thus a total of 44 (28+16) lac-hosts, so far recorded from this State, have been listed in this paper.- Recorded and Unrecorded Lac-hosts from West Bengal

The authors record 28 lac-hosts from West Bengal including 15 hosts recorded by previous authors, 4 of which have also been observed by the present authors. The remaining 13 hosts have been recorded by the present authors, 2 of which are new and 11 first records from this State.- Driage in Palas Broodlac

The authors record fifteen insect species which were found causing damage to ghont (Zizyphus xylopyra), an important plant species, in its natural environs in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. The parasites of these insects, reared in the laboratory, have also been recorded. Biological notes on each insect species have also been given under each in the text. Mathur and Singh (1960) record 14 insect species on ghont.- Vitis spp. as Lac Hosts from Madhya Pradesh

Quantities of broodlac to be used on ghoni for crop inoculation of Baisakhi and Katki have been determined. About 270 gm broodlac may be used for Baisakhi crop inoculation and 530 gm per tree for Katki crop inoculation. Heavy inoculation yields a poor Baisakhi crop but satisfactory Katki crop.- Determination of Pruning Times of Ziziphus Xylopyra (Willd.) in Uttar Pradesh
